Cardiac Glycoside Containing Plants
Common names: Foxglove (pictured
here), rhododendrons,
lily-of-the-valley, oleander, azalea, etc.
Cardiac glycosides are drugs used for treating heart disease
in humans and animals. Digitalis is derived from the foxglove and ingesting these
plants can cause serious illness.
Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, loss of consciousness and
heart failure. If you suspect poisoning, see your vet immediately!
