Cats peeing on top of the stove

This can make you lose your appetite

MetPet.com Staff Writer

You thought your cat was a problem because he has bad aim around the litter box?  There are cats who pee on top of the stovetop burners.  Whether electric or gas, there is something attractive about the range.

Imaginative solutions abound.  One of them is to cover the entire stove top with a custom-made acrylic lid.  Stylish, elegant but not all that convenient.  Another is to place a bowl of heavily-scented citrus potpourri on top of the stove.  We found that a small dish with liquid citrus-scent was even more effective.  However, the scent had to remain strong so it had to be squirted fresh every day.

Also popular is our handy Pine-Sol with it's sock-your-nose-awake heavy duty smell.  Even though Pine-Sol has ammonia in it, its strong scent seems to deter cats anyway.  Just remember to replenish the scent source daily.  If it doesn't smell strongly to you, it probably won't deter your cat.
